John Soper

John Soper is Assistant Director of Statewide Projects for the Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Global Commerce division. As Assistant Director, John works to recruit businesses that are considering Georgia for expansion or relocation in order to create jobs in communities around the state. Within Global Commerce, John’s experience is specialized in the recruitment of advanced manufacturing and high-technology companies to Georgia. Examples of John’s successful recruitments include the U.S. Soccer Federation Headquarters and National Training Center, Cargill Technology Hub, AIG Office Hub, and Xebia Headquarters. In the FY2024, the Global Commerce division supported 429 locations that resulted in the creation of 26,900 jobs and $20.3 billion investment. John holds a M.P.A. from the University of Georgia with a specialization in Local Government Administration and a B.A. from Davidson College in Political Science.
