Hiroko Kawai is an Outreach and Business Development Specialist with the Department of Energy’s Loan Program Office (LPO). She has more than 20 years of experience in automotive and battery technology space, having established several global technology partnerships to implement advanced energy storage solutions. She also co-founded North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE), the nation’s first collaborative platform for stakeholders in the trucking industry to strive for more efficient use of energy, lower costs and emission reduction. Currently, she works in the advanced transportation technology sector, primarily focusing on the Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing (ATVM) program, giving consultative guidance to loan applicants.
